When an English Architect, James, takes his American wife and stepdaughter on safari, he expects to show them the African bush he has loved all his life. On a canoe trip down the Zambezi, poachers ambush them. The gang beat James savagely and leave him for dead; they kidnap his wife and stepdaughter. James pursues them, helped by an ex-special forces soldier and a Masai warrior. The adrenalin-pumping chase takes them through the dark heart of Africa, through Zambia, Mozambique, and Kenya. James must catch them before they reach the coast and are lost forever. James risks everything and has the potential to lose it all. It is a complex story of love, adventure, and sacrifice. It tells of the romance of the Dark Continent’s colonial history and the grim, realities of modern Africa. It is an epic sweeping tale of modern family life, love, loss, and rebirth.

What they're saying about 'Lost in Africa'

"Africa is widely known for its amazing animals, but it's her people that are the heart of its mysteries. Lost in Africa exposes a shadowy side of the Dark Continent." - Barbara Davis, author of DARKSIDE OF DEBONAIR: THE BUSHMEAT TRADE (2003 Benjamin Franklin Award)

"The story line and the interesting writing style, along with well-developed characters, hooked me within the first chapter. I met and was conquered by a trio of characters determined to live life to the fullest. Enthralling is the word that comes to mind. Whether it was holding your breath when the kidnapping took place, smiling at the love between this family of three or cheering on rescue efforts, the characters of this well-written effort will hold you in the palm of their hands. You'll find yourself holding your breath more than once and driven to both extremes of laughter and tears. Overall, this is a four "hankie" book. It once again proves that what might be lovely -- in this case Africa -- can also be deadly. As the author proclaims throughout the book, AWA (Africa wins again). Kudos for an electrifying journey into the soul of Africa." - Alice Klein, Simegen Reviews

"The story has so many wonderful characters that the reader will identify with and cheer for as the story progresses. The plot of the story could have been taken straight from the headlines of today's newspaper. It is told in a realistic format as the events unfold in a natural and realistic manner. Mr. Ford provides so many interesting facts about Africa and has woven them into the story in such a way that at no time did I feel that I was being lectured to or patronized. I truly feel that I have visited Africa and through the eyes of the characters understand the real Africa. It's been a long time since I've read a book outside of mystery/science fiction genre area that I have enjoyed as much as this book. I truly hope that the author's future books are of the same quality as Lost in Africa." - Michelle Dragalin, Round Table Reviews

What they're saying about 'Emma's Camp'

"Mr. Ford stays true to his characters and introduces us to a new aspect of the African culture.  I definitely recommend this book and look forward to Mr. Ford’s future endeavors"-  Michelle Dragalin, Round Table Reviews

"Stuart Ford does a magnificent job of projecting James’ struggle with his inner fears of inadequacies, his intense loves, and his wariness... I particularly loved the masculine voice of Emma’s Camp. This book, full of adventure, gave me a peek into the heart of Africa and her hostile social problems and prejudices. It is a story of lasting love, and how James copes with his personal loss. I highly recommend it. "  JoEllen Conger, Author of Queen of Candelore & Rite of Passage

"Africa is a brutal continent, and its stories not always easy to take. If you get queasy watching National Geographic, this book is not for you. This is a beautifully written story of life and death in a land that is both breathtaking and deadly. Kudos to Stuart Ford for another good read and a brilliant conclusion." - Alice Klein, Simegen Reviews
